£100,000 - £150,000 EXEC9553 permanent position | My client is looking for an experience Head of Credit from within the banking industry. The role is to develop the credit strategy for their business and to implement this strategy cost effectively, whilst minimising risk to the business. The position will have 2 direct reports, the Credit Manager and a Senior Analyst. In addition you will head up a Credit Department staff of 20+. The successful candidate will have at least 10+ years in retail banking with experience of contracts / commercial documentation and credit portfolio risk management. You will also need to have individual underwriting experience and knowledge of credit scoring models, Credit policy formulation, and complex credit agreements. You will be Educated to degree level or equivalent, have excellent Analytical and Influencing skills, Strong Interpersonal and Leadership skills. You will also need to be a decision orientated problem solver. Key Responsibilities:* To manage directly Credit Underwriting unit, and to have overall responsibility for Retail underwriting.* To ensure large deals are consistently analysed and summarised liaising with Commercial.* To sanction deals within personal discretion.* To establish a Retail Credit Committee and associated authorities and processes.* To ensure that Credit policy for the retail division is defined, documented and consistent with Group and Bank policy.* To review and recommend the processes, frequency, responsibilities and resources for Credit Portfolio Management.* To conduct portfolio reviews and make recommendations to the Retail Board in accordance with the agreed processes.* Responsibility for ensuring facilities / security are clearly documented.Competencies / Skills / Experience* 10+ years in Clearing banking with experience of contracts / commercial documentation.* Individual decision making experience to at least £1m.* Individual capability for deals of at least £10m.* Credit policy formulation* Basic experience of credit risk / scoring models* Educated to degree level or equivalent* Excellent Analytical and Influencing skills* Strong Interpersonal and Leadership skills* Excellent written and presentational skills* Decision orientated problem solver |
