My client is one of the leading manufacturers of Marine and Protective coatings in the world, with fifteen manufacturing plants and operations in over 54 countries. They provide high performance coating solutions to enhance, beautify and protect a diverse range of structures. From the largest oil tanker to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, they have the right product to satisfy operational, financial and environmental needs.

Job Description:

This role is based mainly in an office and laboratory environment with some overseas travel which with time and experience will increase. The role will involve allowing colour related projects to be resourced and carried out in a way that would maximize benefits to the business. Main tasks and responsibilities include:

• To provide colour knowledge and input into projects.
• Ability to plan and carry out short and medium term projects and to clearly report and communicate results and colour information to both technical and non technical community.
• To assist with and develop colour databases for both factory and remote operations.
• Investigation of new colour technology opportunities.
• Provide Colour Chemistry expertise to the company across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and to be available to travel to locations within EMEA.
• Assist in the training of non technical personnel.
• Working with the local technical teams in value engineering and product development.

Person Specification:

When it comes to Colour Technology, you will be a perfectionist with a passion for detail and high standards. You will have a two years experience as a colour chemist ideally in a colour related industry (inks, coatings, pigments) and will be an expert in the field, confident at demonstrating your expertise. Other skills required:

• Minimum of a good honours degree (2:1), in Colour Chemistry/Colour Technology or related subject would be preferable.
• Excellent knowledge of Colour Science.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; written, verbal and presentation.
• A self motivated nature and an enthusiastic attitude.
• Effective Team Player.
• Willingness to learn and understand new technologies.
• Familiarity with Colour Computer software and databases and Microsoft Office.
